Hamilton enters environmental insurance market with team led by John Termini

Hamilton Insurance Group has entered the environmental insurance marketplace, with John Termini named as US head of environmental to lead the new unit.

Termini joined Hamilton in November and is building up a team and a book of business that leverages Hamilton's Lloyd's platform.

He joins from Markel Specialty Insurance Company where he was managing director of environmental and energy, responsible for the management, direction, and profitability of the national environmental and energy liability product lines.

Before that he was at Aspen Specialty Insurance Company where he served as vice president and director of environmental liability, overseeing the start-up and management of the national environmental liability underwriting product line. Termini has also worked as a senior vice president and surplus lines broker for professional and environmental specialty at Aon Risk Services.

Termini's over 25 years' of experience in professional and environmental insurance has also included management and underwriting positions at Kemper Insurance Company and AIG Environmental. He began his insurance career at Ambrose Associates as an environmental claims manager, before which he worked as an environmental consultant and hydrogeologist.

"I know [Termini's] extensive experience and expertise will be invaluable as we enter this class of business and, on the heels of our recent mergers and acquisitions division launch, continue to build out our US specialty insurance offerings," she said.
