Hamilton appoints new lead executive for rebranded ILS platform

Hanni Ali has been named senior vice president of strategic partnerships at Hamilton Insurance Group, with oversight of the company’s ILS platform, which has also been rebranded.

Ali was formerly senior vice president of risk and analytics at Hamilton Re, and played a key role in the recent renewal of Hamilton’s sidecar, Turing Re. In his new role he will coordinate the company’s future cat bond placements, among other initiatives. He reports to Jonathan Reiss, president of strategic partnerships.

He joined Hamilton Re in July 2014, securing a promotion to SVP of risk and analytics in May 2019. Before that he worked at Allied World Assurance Company where he was responsible for developing pricing and portfolio accumulation, reporting and analytics systems, and the pricing of inwards and outwards reinsurance contracts.

He also served at Montpelier Re where he was involved in the establishment of Montpelier’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 5151 and associated managing agent, supporting underwriting and risk management of binders, treaty, retro, direct and facultative business.

Reiss said: “[Ali’s] previous position touched all aspects of our business in Bermuda, including our third-party capital initiative, and he’s quickly established himself as a trusted and knowledgeable advisor to our current and potential investors.”

Meanwhile the ILS platform, which was formerly known as Hamilton Capital Partners, is now called Hamilton ILS.

Reiss said the new name more accurately reflects the objectives Hamilton has for the business.
