Guy Carpenter hires two in major management reshuffle in Bermuda

Guy Carpenter & Company, the risk and reinsurance company owned by Marsh & McLennan Companies, has snared two executives from Aon Reinsurance Solutions in Bermuda, as part of a significant management reshuffle on the island.

Robert Johnston joins as chairman of its Bermuda operations, while Peter Komposch becomes head of casualty and specialty in Bermuda.

Meanwhile, John Fletcher, who has led the Guy Carpenter team in Bermuda since 2018, has been named CEO of Bermuda. Jonathan Ogilvie becomes head of retrocession in Bermuda, and Chris Dart has been named head of property treaty in Bermuda. The three internal appointments are subject to approval from the Department of Immigration in Bermuda.

Johnston has nearly 20 years’ experience in Bermuda, most recently as president of Aon Reinsurance Solutions. He reports to John Trace, CEO of North America, and Kevin Fisher, chairman of UK and global specialties and chairman of London North America.

Komposch was managing director of Aon Reinsurance Solutions and reports to Robert Johnston and Fletcher.

Fletcher continues to report to James Boyce, CEO of global specialties.

Trace said: “These appointments create an exciting opportunity to further build on our team, significantly increasing Guy Carpenter’s casualty expertise in Bermuda while deepening the connection to Guy Carpenter’s colleagues in North America and London.”

Fisher added: “We see considerable opportunity for growth in Bermuda overall and specifically the casualty sector. By bringing together this exceptional team of broking talent under Robert and John’s leadership we are perfectly positioned to access that potential. Moving forward, we will continue to create market-advancing, client-centric solutions that will serve to boost our service delivery capabilities and help us strengthen existing relationships as well as forge new ones.”
