Former Aspen executive named as CEO at Chord Re

Chord Reinsurance, the specialty reinsurer, has appointed Aspen’s former chief underwriting officer (CUO) as its new chief executive (CEO).

Tom Meyer becomes CEO, replacing Stefan Long who will transition to executive director ahead of stepping down from the company in 2022.

Meyer joined Chord Re from Aspen at its inception in 2017 as CUO. He has had a 25-year insurance career, starting as a broker before joining Aspen to lead their specialty reinsurance underwriting.

Meyer said: “This is an exciting moment to assume the leadership of Chord Re: we have come a long way since our start in 2017 to be a leading reinsurance underwriting business of scale operating in an exciting market environment.”
