Everest Insurance makes three executive appointments in the US and London

Neil Lightbown has joined Everest Insurance as chief underwriting officer of Everest Global Markets, effective October 1.

Meanwhile, Everest Insurance has named Mike Harnett as chief underwriting officer for North America, while Erik Nikodem becomes global head of property.

Lightbown joins Everest after five years with Allied World Assurance, where he was most recently global markets chief underwriting officer. He has nearly four decades of experience, having worked in both the Lloyds and company markets.

He will report to Mike Mulray, chief operating officer at Everest Insurance, and Vincent Vandendael, chief executive officer of Everest Global Markets, and will be based in London.

Harnett joined Everest in 2017 as deputy chief underwriting officer, having spent 13 years with ACE, and has helped build Everest’s governance framework. He reports to Mulray and remains based in Philadelphia.

Nikodem joined Everest in May 2016 to lead the newly formed US property division. He has overseen the growth, strategy and profitability of the division’s retail property, excess and surplus property, and inland marine space.

He was previously at AIG, holding the role of president and global property executive for the Americas region. He continues to report to Mike Karmilowicz, president and chief executive of Everest Insurance, and is based in Boston.

Karmilowicz said the announcement “further demonstrates the depth of talent within our organisation and the strength of the Everest culture which continues to attract industry-leading talent to our firm.  Our Global Markets operation is a critical component of our diversified portfolio.”
