Ed appoints head of its liability division in Bermuda

Ed has appointed Colin Kelley as head of its new liability division in Bermuda to lead the professional lines, casualty and healthcare teams.

Kelley has more than 16 years of both underwriting and broking experience and joins from Sompo International where he was commercial lines practice leader, professional lines, a title he held since 2010. Before that he was at Marsh where he held various roles in the FINPRO teams, in both Bermuda and New York.

Chris Bonard, CEO of Ed Bermuda, said Ed’s Bermuda operation was launched with a commitment to build a leading-edge brokerage firm and attract the best talent possible. Having made a number of appointments in recent months, Ed can now offer its clients a broad range of products, he said.

“We are continuing this focus throughout 2020 and setting our sights on the reinsurance opportunity that lies ahead,” added Bonard. “We’re acutely aware that customers and insurance personnel are gradually being left with less and less choice. That’s why I believe our launch on the island is so well timed.”

Kelley said: “Utilising innovative technology, we will be providing our clients unparalleled access to the well-established Bermuda marketplace, while generating a new stream of diversified business to our carrier partners.”
