BMS Re poaches Guy Carpenter exec as it strengthens its origination team

BMS Re, the independent reinsurance broker, has poached a new executive vice president for its origination team from Guy Carpenter.

Shruti Sem joins BMS Re in Philadelphia. She has more than 20 years’ experience in both reinsurance and primary insurance companies. At Guy Carpenter, formerly JLT Re, she held various senior roles, including senior vice president in the reinsurance broking division. She began her career in the industry as an actuarial analyst at XL Insurance in 2002 before joining JLT Re in 2006.

Sem reports to Jeff Irvan, chief property officer of BMS Re in the US, who the new hire “has incredibly strong analytical and marketing skills that will be crucial in helping us navigate through the significant opportunities presented by the US market.”

Sem added: “BMS Re has seen significant growth over the past few years and I am looking forward to coming on board at this exciting stage.”
