BF&M appoints Chubb exec as new CFO

BF&M Group has appointed Bruce Walker as EVP, group chief financial officer (CFO). Headquartered in Bermuda, the company conducts business through the BF&M and Island Heritage trading names.

A former CFO and transformational leader at ACE INA Insurance, Walker more recently served as chief risk officer at Chubb Insurance Company of Canada. In this role, he was responsible for implementing an Enterprise Risk Management framework and reporting programme, as well as partnering with the chief actuary and CFO to provide strategic analysis and portfolio optimisation.

He oversaw catastrophe and casualty reinsurance treaty placements for Canada, and was chair of the Chubb Canada Investment Committee. He has also held senior leadership positions internationally with Royal & Sunlife Alliance Insurance Group in the US and the UK. He began his career with Deloitte & Touche in Canada.

“Bruce brings international insurance industry expertise and an effective blend of technical knowledge, strategic acumen and operational management insight,” John Wight, BF&M Group chairman and CEO, said. “His perspectives will be a great addition to the group executive team and we look forward to a productive collaboration.”

The two largest operating companies within the BF&M Group are BF&M Life Insurance Company and BF&M General Insurance Company. The BF&M Group includes several other companies including BF&M Investment Services, BF&M Properties, (including Scarborough Property Holdings and Barr’s Bay Properties), and Island Heritage Insurance Company.
