AXIS strengthens US excess casualty underwriting team with two hires

AXIS Insurance has hired Jonathan Martin and Jennifer Fisher to work in its US excess casualty underwriting team, as vice president and assistant vice president, respectively.

Martin previously spent more than 12 years at Gen Star Management, holding a variety of underwriting positions across primary and excess casualty lines through wholesale brokers. He was most recently vice president at Gen Re, responsible for underwriting casualty facultative reinsurance on an individual risk and programme basis, including construction, auto liability and high excess liability.

Fisher was most recently a senior underwriter for excess casualty at Hallmark Financial Services. She has also served as an inside casualty broker at CRC Insurance Services, and began her career at Liberty International Underwriters as an excess casualty underwriter.

Mike Flaherty, president of US casualty at AXIS Insurance, said the hires will help support the growth of the excess casualty business as market conditions improve. “Their underwriting expertise and market experience will enable us to further support our wholesale broker partners and the complex risk needs of their clients,” he added.
