AXA XL names new country leader for Singapore

AXA XL Insurance has named a new country manager for Singapore.

Sylvie Gleises will replace Kevin Leong in the role. Leong currently serves as country leader for AXA XL in Singapore, managing director for AXA Singapore commercial lines and chief underwriting officer for AXA Asian Markets, and is leaving AXA.

Gleises is currently global head of revenue synergies and head of client management for Asia Pacficic and Europe. She will take up her new post on September 1, 2021, subject to regulatory approval. She will report to Gilles Fromageot, regional manager for Asia at AXA XL.

Gleises joined AXA Group in 2006 and has since held several strategic positions including chief of staff to the group’s former chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), Henri de Castries. She was also CEO for Continental Europe and global head of distribution and marketing for AXA Art.

Xavier Veyry, CEO for Asia Pacific and Europe at AXA XL, highlighted Gleises’ experience across different business functions and her client focused approach as attributes that make her well suited to lead the Singapore operation.

“The latest World Economic Forum Global Risks Report highlights extreme weather, climate action failure and human environmental damage as three of the top risks by likelihood,” he added. “Clients need to look beyond current risks to ensure they are prepared for the risks of tomorrow, and there have never been more opportunities for AXA XL to partner with and make a difference to our clients and brokers.”
