Arch poaches Aspen group general counsel

Arch Insurance International has appointed a new general counsel. Silvia Martinez joins from Aspen Insurance Group, where she was group general counsel, company secretary and a member of the group executive committee.

A Harvard Law graduate, Martinez previously worked at US law firms Willkie Farr & Gallagher in its London office and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in San Francisco. Before that, she was deputy city attorney for the Oakland City Attorney’s Office.

Based in London, Martinez will report to Kirsten Valder, Arch Insurance International chief administrative officer, Arch.

Valder welcomed her: “Silvia is a great addition to Arch Insurance International. A highly respected corporate lawyer, she also brings extensive insurance market expertise to the role.”

Arch Insurance International is part of Arch Capital Group, which includes Arch Insurance UK and the P&C insurance operations of Arch Insurance (EU) dac, as well as insurance operations in Europe, Australia and Bermuda.
