Aon appoints McElroy to lead its Bermuda casualty team

John McElroy has been hired to join the Aon’s reinsurance solutions team in Bermuda as head of casualty.

McElroy will be based in Bermuda, subject to Bermuda immigration approval, and report to Tony Fox, chairman and chief executive officer of reinsurance solutions in Bermuda.

He has 30 years of industry experience, having previously held several positions at Allied World Assurance Company, most recently as executive vice president of global insurance, and as senior vice president and head of the management liability department at Gulf Insurance Company.

Andy Marcell, Aon’s chief executive of reinsurance solutions, framed the appointment as “one of a number of steps we are taking to assess and mitigate existing and emerging casualty exposures on behalf of our clients.”
