Hiscox builds out Bermuda casualty team

Hiscox expands its Bermuda casualty team with the addition of Nicholas Pascall as senior vice president and Sharmini Samuels as assistant vice president.

The growing team will focus on a number of core lines including healthcare, directors’ and officers’, errors and omissions, workers’ compensation, and excess casualty, as Hiscox looks to further diversify its existing book of business.

Both Pascall and Samuels join from American Safety Re (Bermuda) where they were chief underwriter and casualty treaty underwriter respectively.

Jeremy Pinchin, CEO of Hiscox explained that “since establishing our operation here in Bermuda we’ve sought to bring in a level of diversification to balance our property treaty reinsurance portfolio. This has been achieved very successfully with the growth of our healthcare book under the leadership of Ian Thompson. Our expansion into additional casualty treaty lines represents a natural progression for Ian and his team.”
