Marsh names CEO of Bermuda MGA business

Marsh, the insurance broker and risk advisor subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has appointed Christopher Schaper as chief executive officer of its managing general agent business, Schinnerer Group, effective immediately.

Based in Hamilton, Bermuda, Schaper will be responsible for the development of Marsh’s existing MGA businesses in the US and Canada, including Victor O Schinnerer and ENCON.

He will also focus on developing risk solutions for clients that leverage emerging capacity from capital markets, working with team across Marsh and Guy Carpenter. He will report to John Drzik, president of global risk and specialties.

Schaper has over 25 year of experience as a senior insurance executive, having most recently served as an executive officer within Montpellier Re.

Prior to this, he had held leadership positions at Endurance, including chief underwriting officer and head of reinsurance.

Drzik commented: “Chris’ extensive industry and executive experience make him ideally qualified to lead the growth and development of our MGA business. We are pleased to welcome him to the Schinnerer Group.”
