Lancashire appoints non-exec director

Lancashire Holdings, a Bermuda specialty re/insurer, has appointed Robert Lusardi as its non-executive director, effective immediately.

Lusardi replaced non-executive director, Emma Duncan, following her resignation after six years of service on the Lancashire board.

Prior to his appointment, Lusardi has held a number of senior executive positions in the financial services industry.

His career started with Lehman Brothers, where he was its managing director responsible for the insurance and asset management practices.

From 1998 to 2005, Lusardi served as executive vice president of White Mountains Insurance and chief executive officer (CEO) of certain subsidiaries.

During this time, he was CEO of PremierRe Holdings, a private insurance entity.

In addition to this, he has served as director of Symetra Financial Corporation, and director of a number of insurance-related entities including Primus Guaranty and OneBeacon Insurance. He has also been chairman of Pentelia and Pareto Partners.

Peter Clarke, chairman of Lancashire, said: “We are delighted to welcome Robert to Lancashire as a non-executive director. Robert further strengthens the Lancashire Board with his in-depth experience of the insurance markets and his first hand leadership skills and experience. The board has appointed Robert as a member of our audit, remuneration and investment committees.

“I would also like to thank Emma for her loyal service and insightful contributions as a member of our Board over many years and in helping to direct and shape Lancashire as a business which has achieved sector leading results.”
