Hamilton Re introduces students to re/insurance
Hamilton Re has announced that its latest Open Hamilton Re contest, which is designed to raise the interest of Bermuda high school students in a career in the insurance and reinsurance industry, was a success.
Nineteen S3 and S4 level students representing the Island’s public and private high schools were chosen to spend an afternoon in Hamilton Re’s offices in the Waterfront complex on Pitts Bay Road earlier this month. The event was one of several initiatives organised by Hamilton Re in support of Insurance Careers Month.
Students were welcomed by Hamilton Re CEO Kathleen Reardon who provided an overview of the type of property and casualty risks her company underwrites.
The students also toured Hamilton Re’s offices and were also given overviews of the role of data and analytics in selecting risk and the legal aspects of reinsurance.
Vice president and head of claims Rebecca Adderley challenged the group to identify what might qualify as a claim with a quiz that featured some of the more unusual claims she has dealt with in her career.
