Catlin opens Singapore branch for the New Year

Catlin Group has opened a branch in Singapore. The new entity is separate from Catlin's Lloyd’s operations, which have been writing business since 1999, and began writing specialty lines of direct insurance in Singapore and reinsurance throughout the Asia-Pacific region on New Year’s day.

Catlin is now capable of writing business on behalf of either the new branch or the Lloyd’s syndicate, depending on broker and client preference. The license granted to Catlin by the Singapore Monetary Authority covers all lines of business currently underwritten by the Group in the Asia Pacific region, including political risk, property, aviation and terrorism.

Mark Newman, CEO of Catlin’s Asia-Pacific underwriting hub, said: “the formation of Catlin Insurance Company (Singapore Branch) underscores Catlin’s firm commitment to our clients in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region and allows Catlin to expand our product offering in the region.”
