ABIR hosts seminar for visiting Appalachian State University students
The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) has hosted a visit by a group of Appalachian State University students.
The students were given a one-hour primer on how Bermuda has become one of the world’s most important reinsurance centres over the last 25 years.
“Helping connect Bermuda to the next generation of insurance industry professionals carries our risk innovation history forward,” said Leila Madeiros, ABIR’s senior vice president and deputy director, who led the class. “We are approaching the 25th year anniversary of the reinsurance class of 1993, the real commencement of the modern Bermuda market.”
The students were taking part in the Brantley Risk and Insurance Centre’s ‘International Markets’ annual May circuit to Bermuda.
