Everest launches private equity practice

Everest Insurance has launched a dedicated private equity practice which will take a “holistic approach” to offering coverage to private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies In North America.

The practice will be headed by Dan Reinert as private equity vertical leader, while Matt Murray  has been appointed head of private equity distribution, where he will oversee the vertical’s sales and distribution efforts. Reinert will report to Rob Clark, head of Everest Specialty Underwriters.

Everest Insurance, a subsidiary of Bermuda-based Everest Group, has established the vertical across property and casualty lines to serve the distinct needs of private equity sponsors, the company said.

“Building on Everest’s strong private equity foundation, we are scaling our offering with a holistic approach, specialised products, and exceptional service to meet customers’ needs,” said Mike Mulray (pictured), President of Everest Insurance North America. “Everest’s expanded offering aligns to our trading partners’ preferred way of doing business – with dedicated expertise through a single point of contact focused on providing the best possible experience.”

The vertical will offer property and casualty product capabilities in addition to existing financial lines and transactional liability offerings.

Most recently, Reinert oversaw private equity within Everest Specialty Underwriters, where he expanded Everest’s core product offering, general partnership liability. Prior to Everest, Reinert served in various underwriting and leadership roles at leading global insurance carriers including Aspen and StarStone Insurance where he focused exclusively on financial lines and fund liability.

Murray will serve as the single point of contact for clients and brokers, providing them access to the complete suite of customisable private equity offerings while enabling increased speed to market. Murray joined Everest in 2016 as Northeast region distribution leader for North America, where he established deep relationships with key trading partners. With nearly 25 years of experience with a large global broker, he was most recently a risk management client executive responsible for a diverse book of business across the industry.

“Dan and Matt are exceptionally strong leaders who have a deep understanding of the private equity sector and how to best service the insurance needs of sponsors and portfolio companies,” said Clark. “I look forward to working closely with both Dan and Matt as we scale our private equity offering and deliver even greater speed, service, and value to our customers.”
