Everest combines specialties into global unit

Everest Re is combining its aviation, marine, cyber, engineering and parametric offerings into a global specialties business.

Phil Taylor has been appointed head of global specialties, Everest Reinsurance. He will be reporting to Jill Beggs, head of North America and global specialty reinsurance.

Taylor has more than 25 years’ experience across specialty business lines. Prior to his position as global head of aerospace for Everest Reinsurance, he managed sizable aviation portfolios, most recently at Liberty Specialty Markets. Taylor also served in various roles including deputy unit head at AXIS Re and spent more than a decade at Aon most recently as a specialty lines broker.

Jim Williamson, group chief operating officer and head of reinsurance, said: “We have combined our best-in-class talent, expertise and a focused global approach to provide the market with protection to thrive in the face of rapidly emerging risks from cyber threats to climate-driven weather disasters. Everest’s Global Specialties Business is an investment in the needs of the specialty market that deepens our capabilities and further diversifies our global portfolio.”

“Since joining Everest, Phil has transformed our aviation portfolio into the market-leading practice it is today," Beggs added. "I’m confident his strong leadership skills and global specialty expertise will elevate our position across all specialty lines. Phil is the definition of a high performing leader and I look forward to working with him and the team as we continue evolving our business to align with clients’ and brokers’ needs and deliver the exceptional service and value they deserve.”
