SiriusPoint builds out IT team

SiriusPoint has made a number of new appointments to its information technology (IT) team, building out a diverse set of expertise to transform the way the company operates and supports its business functions.

The new team will integrate the company’s platforms, creating improved IT functionality to enable the operational efficiency of the business. They will also help SiriusPoint’s strategic goal of being a technology enabled insurer, including cloud transformation, establishing a robust data and analytics platform, and adopting modern technology architecture and practice.

“Developing an industry-leading technology approach has been a priority for the business since SiriusPoint launched nearly a year ago,” said Darryl Siry, SiriusPoint’s chief technology officer. “SiriusPoint’s platforms and operational capabilities are core to our ability to be nimble and data-driven, enhancing functions across the business from underwriting and risk management to finance and operations.”

Prashanth Gangu, chief operating officer and president of insurance and services, added: “Successful transformation in the insurance industry requires a clear vision and the talent to deliver results. Over the past year, Darryl has built a highly talented technology team. I couldn’t be happier with the skills and diverse approaches we have to deliver on our ambitions within our insurance business and the disruptive MGAs and insurtechs SiriusPoint partners with.”

Nestor Lopez joins as chief information officer (CIO). He is based in New York and will lead IT strategy and execution for the global reinsurance and primary Insurance business. Lopez was previously CIO at ProSight Specialty Insurance and also held IT and operational roles at CNA and Allianz.

Atul Bahl has been appointed as head of cloud infrastructure and DevOps. Based in New York, Bahl joins from Verisk Analytics. He will have responsibility for the management and development of cloud infrastructure and DevOps processes and teams and will oversee all components of SiriusPoint’s cloud infrastructure.

Shalanda Durrant-Thomas is the new vice president of finance and risk systems. Based in Bermuda, she joins from Arch Capital Group and has IT responsibility for all systems related to finance, pricing, portfolio analytics, actuarial and capital management.

Janaé Frazier joins from Prudential Financial as vice president of IT operations, process and controls. Based in New York, Frazier is responsible for data centres, networking, end-user computing, and helpdesk functions.

Lloyd Holder has been promoted to chief information security officer. Based in Bermuda, Holder joined SiriusPoint in 2020 and is responsible for the overall security of all company entities, as well as regulatory compliance and managing third-party cybersecurity risk.

Christine Manfredo has joined as vice president of product management and user experience, in the New York office. She has over a decade of professional practice leading research, strategy, and design to aid product development.

Nicole Mitchell has been named as chief enterprise architect. Based in Bermuda, she joins from Hiscox, and has responsibility for designing the overall technology architecture and standards to support SiriusPoint’s business strategy across reinsurance, insurance, and new ventures.

Manish Munshi has been appointed chief data officer, based in New York. Munshi has responsibility for data architecture, data management and business intelligence capabilities, and is leading the development of our cloud data platform.

Poornima Sobhana has joined as vice president and reinsurance systems leader. Based in Bermuda, she joins from Validus. An accounting and reinsurance system expert, she specialises in property and casualty reinsurance and retrocession accounting with an emphasis on business process systems.
