Liberty Mutual Re promotes underwriter to manage its global portfolio

Liberty Mutual Re (LM Re), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Peter Smith to the newly created role of executive vice president (EVP) and managing director.

Smith has 25 years of experience in the re/insurance market. He joined LSM in 2012 and was formerly executive underwriting officer. Before joining LSM he was deputy active underwriter at Sagicor Syndicate at Lloyd’s.

Smith assumes responsibility for managing the LM Re global portfolio and performance optimisation, while retaining his regional LM Re responsibilities. He is based in London and reports to Dieter Winkel, president of LM Re.
