L&G Re appoints new chief operating officer

Karan Martin has been appointed chief operating officer (COO) at Legal & General Reinsurance.

Martin, who has been with the Legal & General Group since 201, joins the Bermuda-based company from Maryland, where she was COO at Legal & General America.

She has held leadership and board roles in the telecommunications, tech support start-up, and financial services sectors, including Telefonica O2 and Xerox

Martin said: “I’m excited to join the Bermuda business as part of a strong team that is energised and enthusiastic about the expansion opportunities. I’m looking forward to using my operational background to build on the firm foundations for growth, while supporting the business by facilitating further innovation.”

She added: “I’ve seen the power of technology in action and how it can create phenomenal change. I am delighted that technology is a key part of the strategy at L&G Re.”
