Vacancies prompt Argo Group to fills gaps in ranks of subsidiary

Argo Group International Holdings has announced that it has made a string of appointments in one of its key subsidiaries, Colony Specialty. The appointments were prompted by the departure of a leading executive and the company’s wish to bolster its digital business development team.

Ron Vindivich is now in charge of Argo’s US excess & surplus lines division, which includes its Colony Specialty business. He replaces Art Davis, who has left the company.

Sue Coates has been promoted to senior vice president and head of Trident Public Risk Solutions, Argo Group’s public entity insurance and risk management business replacing Vindivich.

Both Vindivich and Coates have started in their new roles with immediate effect, reporting to Kevin Rehnberg, Argo’s US operations president.

“We have a strong US platform with a deep bench of high-performing leaders,” said Rehnberg. “I appreciate all that Art has accomplished over the past four years as leader of this profitable business. Given Ron and Sue’s track records of success, I’m confident the company’s positive momentum will continue well into the future.”

Prior to his former role at Trident, Vindivich held a number of positions at Colony Specialty, beginning as underwriting vice president in 2006 and ultimately being promoted to senior vice president in 2010 before moving over to lead Trident in 2013. Prior to working at Colony, Vindivich held a number of positions at Chubb, Kemper and CNA.

Coates joined Trident in 2008 as part of the Massamont acquisition, serving in many roles within the underwriting division before being appointed vice president, director of underwriting in 2016. Prior to joining Trident, Coates was a senior underwriter of public entities with Massamont Insurance, managing large municipal and school risks.

In addition, Colony Specialty has appointed Kelly Killimett to lead its environmental business. She will report to Vindivich. Former environmental business leader Marsh Duncan will serve as the head of digital business development. He too will report to Rehnberg.

“Kelly has developed deep expertise by working in the environmental business for many years, especially in working side-by-side with Marsh for the past five years. She is the natural leader to take our environmental business to the next level,” said Rehnberg. “Marsh has done an excellent job with this program. In his new role, the broader organization will benefit from his expertise as he works closely with our digital team to accelerate our efforts to become a more digital business.”

Killimett joined Colony Specialty in 2012 and became vice president of underwriting in 2014. Prior to Colony Specialty, Killimett served as a manager and underwriter in the environmental department at American Safety Insurance Services. She started her career as a retail account manager at Wachovia.
