Nationwide loses cyber team to Validus Specialty

A new team of US-based cyber underwriters has joined Validus Specialty, a subsidiary of Bermuda-based Validus Holdings.

The new team is made up of Jackie Lee and Mary Spicer, who were previously on the commercial errors and omissions (E&O), cyber division of Nationwide Insurance.

Jonathan Ritz, CEO of Validus Specialty, said: "Validus Specialty is uniquely positioned to deliver a suite of specialty insurance solutions to US clients and brokers through US-based underwriters, leveraging the risk appetite and balance sheet capacity of Talbot and Western World.

"As Validus Specialty continues to build out the Validus insurance platform in the US, including a cyber-offering is a natural progression and complement to our existing product offerings. We are delighted to welcome Jackie and Mary to the global cyber team and are confident that they will add tremendous value to our US clients and brokers."

Lee, who was an associate vice president, division head of cyber and professional liability at Nationwide, joins Validus as vice president. Before this, she was an assistant vice president of professional liability with Arch Insurance.

Spicer will serve on the Validus team as senior underwriter, having held roles at Aon Risk Services, and most recently at Nationwide.

The new team will be based in New York, writing on behalf of Talbot Underwriting through Syndicate 1183, and Western World Insurance Group.
