Ironshore targets firms grappling with AI, robotics and digital manufacturing

Bermuda-based Ironshore has said it will develop products designed to help manufacturing companies grappling with new technologies and risks including artificial intelligence, robotics and digital manufacturing.

It has launched a new unit that will underwrite coverages for manufacturers with a focus on complex risks.

The Manufacturing Industry Practice Group will be led by Toby Smith, the executive vice president of Ironshore Environmental, who will continue to serve in that role, responsible for overseeing the underwriting of environmental liability risks.

“Artificial intelligence and sophisticated robotics promise to drive economic growth and as such, will require insurance product innovation,” said Kevin Kelley, chief executive of Ironshore.

“Toby will work collaboratively with regional Ironshore specialty product lines leadership to develop and offer customized coverage solutions to meet heightened market demand within this emerging segment of the manufacturing industry.”
