Hamilton Re continues to build an impressive team

Bermuda-based Hamilton Re has promoted Peter Skerlj to chief risk officer as the company continues to build an impressive management team.

Skerlj was a founding member of Hamilton Re’s management team and brings more than 17 years industry experience to the role. Having worked at PartnerRe, Lancashire and most recently Q Re, he has considerable experience across insurance and reinsurance lines.

Commenting on Skerlj’s promotion, Brian Duperreault, CEO of Hamilton Re says: “I’m delighted to announce Pete’s well-deserved promotion to this critical role in our company. With his extensive experience in analytics, his actuarial skills and his deep knowledge of the reinsurance sector, Pete strengthens the intelligent risk management that characterizes Hamilton Re.”

Industry veteran, Duperreault heads up the newly formed Hamilton Re, which was formed from troubled reinsurer SAC Re at the end of 2013; but there are wise heads within the new management team.

Skerlj joins a bench that already constitutes former Validus Re CEO, Conan Ward, who heads up Hamilton’s Insurance Group; and Sanford Weill, formerly of Marsh & McLennan and ACE, as chairman of the board.
