Endurance appoints new global property insurance lead

Endurance has announced that Richard Housley has joined the company as executive vice president and global practice leader for property insurance.

Housley has extensive experience in property insurance markets where he has held various underwriting and management roles for almost 30 years. As well as launching the company's property business in London, he will work closely with CEO of US insurance, Doug Worman, in efforts to build the company's property book stateside and globally.

Housley will also serve as general manager for Endurance's London office and report to Graham Evans, CEO of international insurance.

Evans notes, "Richard has an exceptional reputation as a skilled underwriter along with extensive relationships across the primary brokers serving this market. Under his leadership, we will no doubt quickly establish Endurance as a meaningful player in the London property market and significantly enhance our offerings and prominence in the key property insurance markets around the world."

Housley's most recent role was at ANV's Lloyd's syndicate, ANV Syndicate Management, where he was underwriting director. Prior to this, Housley was with Axis Insurance since 2002, most recently as CEO of the specialty lines division responsible for Axis' property, casualty and marine insurance business. During his tenure at Axis, he also served as chairman of Axis Specialty Europe Limited, global leader for the property and energy practice, and president of Axis's global insurance segment.
