Endurance appoints chief risk officer

Bermuda-based specialty re/insurer Endurance Specialty Holdings has appointed Christopher Gallagher as chief risk officer and group actuary.

Gallagher succeeds Joan deLemps who announced her intention to retire from Endurance earlier this year. He will take over responsibility for the company's corporate risk management function from deLemps.

Gallagher joins Endurance from AXIS Capital where he has served as chief risk officer for the AXIS Insurance segment. Prior to that, he was a senior manager with Ernst & Young.

John Charman, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Endurance, said: "Having worked closely with Chris before, I am delighted to welcome him to Endurance and our management team. His expertise will be extremely beneficial as we continue to enhance our risk framework and practices to support the increasing scale and complexity of our organisation.”
