Canopius appoints global head of accident and health

Canopius Group, the London-based subsidiary of Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Holdings, has hired Scott Bailey as global head of accident and health (A&H).

Bailey joins Canopius, which has operations in Bermuda, from Zurich where he was most recently global chief underwriting officer, A&H. He will lead the development of Canopius’s global A&H strategy as part of the group’s broader ambitions for profitable growth in specialty lines.

Bailey will report to Stephen Gargrave, chief underwriting officer, Canopius Managing Agents.

Gavin Watson and Kieran Morrin will continue as head of international A&H and head of UK A&H, respectively.  They will work closely with Bailey to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to this class across the group.
