AXIS Capital appoints Wilson as president of US insurance

AXIS Capital has appointed Peter Wilson as its president of US insurance division.

A veteran of the industry, Wilson will head up the company’s insurance efforts including its professional lines and property and casualty divisions, and will be based out of the company’s New York office. He will report to AXIS insurance CEO, Jack Gressier.

Wilson most recently served as president and chief operating officer at CNA Specialty, a unit of CNA Financial Corporation, where he worked for the past 20 years. The company specialises in professional and management liability, healthcare and surety lines.

Commenting on Wilson’s appointment, Gressier said: “Peter is a seasoned executive with a depth and breadth of experience and a reputation for driving profitable growth that can only come from decades of working at the highest levels of our industry. He is known for his ability to build and motivate highly integrated teams, and for his effective leadership of these teams. I speak for our entire company in welcoming him to the AXIS team.”
