ArgoGlobal, the Lloyd’s insurer and member of Bermuda-based Argo Group, has hired Kieran Wilson as onshore energy underwriter.

Wilson joins ArgoGlobal from StarStone Syndicate 1301 at Lloyd’s where, as onshore energy (midstream and downstream) underwriter, he produced a significant proportion of the total gross written premium (GWP) for this line of business, focusing on the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Wilson joined Syndicate 1301 in 2008 and also gained significant expertise in the bloodstock and livestock sector.

Wilson will report to Jodi Davenport, underwriter, onshore/downstream energy.

“The energy sector is a market in which we see significant long term potential,” said Philip Thorpe-Apps, head of marine and energy.

“We are committed to continually enhancing our leading technical expertise in this area and to offering a suite of specialist products which set us apart.

“Kieran is a highly skilled underwriter who has already demonstrated an ability to build profitable books of new business. His appointment will complement our existing capabilities and ensure we are well positioned to realise our ambitions for ArgoGlobal’s onshore energy portfolio.”
